Tom and Jerry (1940)
Tom and Jerry is an American animated comedy series and media franchise about a cat named Tom and a mouse named Jerry who are constantly at odds. The series is known for its slapstick action and visual humor, with the characters rarely speaking. In most episodes, Jerry manages to avoid Tom's attempts to catch him, but the two may occasionally work together against a common enemy. William Hanna and Joseph Barbera created the original Tom and Jerry cartoons in 1940, and the characters first appeared in the theatrical short Puss Gets the Boot. The series is best known for its 161 short films produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, but has also been developed by others over the years.
