I have found that this simple clean look makes everything on my Plex server look good and consistent. I began making my own posters simply to avoid bothering Musikmann2000, or many of the others that use this design, with tons of requests. I derive the images for my posters from Cinematerial, FanArt.TV, Google search, IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, TMDb or right here on TPDb. Not all of my posters come out as I'd like, but I'm getting better.
