Summary

A brand-new search engine has been released, multiple performance improvements and optimizations, bug fixes, and more!

• Gracefully handle when the search engine is down, or an error has occurred - display a controlled error message rather than throwing an error and not loading the search page at all

• Issue when navigating to some poster report threads and it errors out

• Issue navigating to some individual poster pages and having it error out due to the parsing/rendering of the poster's notes
• Issue loading some user profiles while some information wasn't available causing the page to error out

Notice

While the new search engine and other updates were introduced to address various performance issues experienced with the site, some features/pages across the site may be disabled or inaccessible as we work to upgrade them further. At the time of this log entry, Advanced Search is disabled for Pro users as we work to integrate it with the new search engine, the users tab on the top page displays a general message when loading and doesn't display the user cards, and search results may not seem as accurate as we work to further optimize the search engine and fine tune settings to bring the best results possible! A further update will be provided when more information is available.

We've reached yet another massive milestone! This update includes the release of TPDb Pro while also bringing in a massive amount of additional new items, updates, and fixes to the site!

Summary

The latest update brings multiple fixes and improvement to the way that set links are handled throughout the site, payment flows are now quicker when using PayPal & Apple/Google/Microsoft payments, also subscriptions in rare cases won't cause issues when being created or canceled, and lastly, fixed an error preventing users from uploading posters when selecting "original" as a poster variation.

• When editing a set with a recycled poster, it will be listed as recycled and offer the user a link to their recycle bin or to remove the link
• When paying with PayPal or Apple/Google/Microsoft Pay, after a successful confirmation, the user will automatically be directed through the final stages where the payment will be handled on the site end starting that subscription, sending that gift, or enabling that boost

• Rounding for change log entries has been updated to use the new styling
• Rounding on report thread information lists has been updated to use the new styling

Fixed

• Individual poster pages, set pages, and set edit pages will no longer throw up the white flag when a recycled poster is linked
• Duplicate "additional sets" won't be listed when two posters from one set are linked to another set
• First-time poster uploads would throw an error when "Original (Default)" was selected as the poster variation
• When subscribing and during the time the site handles setting up the subscription, there were cases where a subscription could be active and then soon after be marked as ending after the first month is up even though the subscription wasn't canceled by the user
• Rare case where users weren't able to cancel their subscription due to a site issue
• When uploading a poster and "Original" poster variation is selected, it would cause the individual poster page to throw errors wouldn't load
• Rare occurrence where the account settings page wouldn't render as some required data wasn't available

Also, some additional cleanup and optimizations were made.

Summary

Users now have the ability to customize the way that external links are handled. The new external link handling applies to poster notes, poster reports & request threads. Lastly, individual poster edit handling has been updated to be more mature than before and only updating when need be.

This update brings some much-needed updates to the way default posters are handled, and bundles/gifts are processed. Gifts now expire after 30 days and are separate from your monthly allotment. Oh...and some spelling mistakes also.

• If you have an active bundle/gift with available slots, each upload will be assigned the best bundle/gift before touching your monthly upload limit
• Bundles & gifts now expire after 30 days instead of at the end of the month (from the time of purchase or gifting)

After the earlier update, some bugs with payment processing and account settings were found. Those have now been corrected!

This update handles notifying the user upfront when making an update if a note or poster is missing better than before. Also, other general bug corrections across the site have been updated.

Summary

Starting today, users can enjoy additional payment methods (Apple, Google, Microsoft Pay), the option to select from a saved payment method when purchasing a subscription or gift, and the ability the manage saved payment methods under account settings. Alongside payment improvements, Poster Requests have had a massive improvement and correction lead by community feedback! Lastly, Pro users can now search by IMDb or TVDb ID's while using the advanced search page!

Added in support infrastructure helping an admin verify your account during times of support, updated the way the email verification page is rendered providing users with more information and help upfront, added in the ability to change your email, and fixed an issue when voting on a poster request and it not being performed.

Original Creation (OC) has been a topic of discussion amongst the admins for a couple of months now. It's something that we have an interest in and have been listening to what's been said and trying to plan what works best. We are currently finalizing some plans on a much better way to handle the situation going forward. During this time, we've decided to hide the OC options when uploading and displaying on the site, alongside the OC filter. At the current time, all previously uploaded OC posters will act as any other poster on the site. The new planned system will retrofit any previously uploaded posters with the new system. Please bear with us as we define and implement a better solution to help mitigate past, current, and future issues that may arise regarding OC. Summary

Pagination rendering across multiple pages has been updated, a new page has been added to view who you're following and have blocked to handle them accordingly, user cards now have the ability to toggle the users hide status, some tables across the site have been updated to handle sorting better and search has gotten smarter with the number of pages and the newest addition of strict searching!

Summary

Massive performance improvements and added the ability to "hide a user" as an alternative to removing template poster marking and filtering.

• With the removal of templates, the ability to Hide a User has been added *

• Search has been completely rewritten bringing you better results right to your fingertips!
  • No more multiple refreshing to get an item to work
  • All items are shown straight from our database
  • If an item isn't in our database, but is in TMDb, it will be parsed in the background and displayed as a result when ready
  • You can now search and "upload" from the navbar directly -- going through the search page of course
  • The new search icon had been added to the displayed navbar on mobile requiring one less click to search!
• Filtering of posters has now been upgraded to handle much better across all pages while getting some siblings
  • Beside the filter button, you now have the option to show textless posters and hide the non-textless posters
  • On a show page, you also have the option to easily change the currently viewing season
• Rendering
  • Upgraded site banner and footer to stay within site branding
  • Posters and avatars now have a fallback image if they fail to load properly
  • User dropdown in the navbar now has some icons and more subtle dividers
  • Change logs entries now render a little nicer and handled automatically
  • Freshened up scrollbar to be browser native
  • Added lazy loading to images to help with some speed and loading of the site
  • Some mobile rendering corrections were added so that your mobile experience can feel a little better and more natural

• Genres
  • Genres have been re-branded to Categories to help stay general and allowed to loosen up a little while staying open for the future of the site
• Reports
  • Transparency is key -- all reports made against a poster are viewable by anyone on the site
  • A new button has been added to the poster table that will link to a table displaying both open and closed reports for that respective poster
  • If you click on the "eye" icon, you will open the respective report thread
  • Report thread comments can only be made by the respective poster owner, admins, and moderators
  • If you're the poster owner and receive a report, you will be notified (email currently) for each new comment that's made in a report thread
  • Poster owners, admins, and moderators can manage the poster directly from a respective report thread
  • New report pop-up when making a report against a poster or user
  • Users now have a table on their respective dashboard with access directly to their open poster report threads
• Change Logs
  • Rendering has been improved to help keep it minimal and keep the page short
  • Discord notifications are sent for each time a new change log entry is made (Make sure to join our Discord to get the notifications!)
  • Change logs will now list if a user should clear your browser cache after a respective update for some items to take effect
  • Update date will be listed if a change log enter has been updated
• Any item on the site (Category, Collection, Company, Movie, Person, or Show) can now be added to a collection
• Added Instagram as a social media link option
• A Discord username is now required when applying for beta -- this helps as Discord is used for communication while in beta
• Person entries in search now include their department to help identify the person better
• Reddit social links on a users profile link you directly to their submissions (posts) no matter if you use the old or new Reddit
• Recently added posters won't show textless posters -- that's because of the recently added textless section just below it
• Textless posters aren't mixed in with non-textless posters anymore -- refer to the textless/non-textless toggle in filters and mentioned above
• Poster list has now been re-branded to Poster Directory
