What hardly anyone knows: Germany is the world's number three arms exporter - sales forecast rising, even in the crisis. Jürgen Grässlin is someone who sees his civic engagement in resistance to the production of war material. With unbroken vehemence, the Freiburg secondary school teacher has been opposing German arms manufacturers such as Heckler & Koch or large corporations such as Daimler AG for over 25 years. It is a grueling task that he devotes himself to in his free time — also on a voluntary basis as chairman of various peace groups such as the German Peace Society - United War Service Opponents or the German Action Network to Stop Small Arms. A David versus Goliath fight. Jürgen Grässlin was recently able to prove the use of German weapons in the Georgian War. The peace activist never tires of publicly denouncing the sales practices and weapon construction licenses of the German armaments companies and accusing them of their destructive business.
