Vijay is the music director for the film—producing agency of the Government of India, in Bombay. He composes music for feature films, and is involved with music experimentation. He is also an outstanding performer on the Indian bamboo flute, performs in the concert for broadcasts and recordings, and teaches the flute using traditional methods. His life seems to show that the ancient tradition of India’s classical music may survive, even when combine with modern mass media.
